Our issues & challenges

Lack of development

By far the biggest issue is the lack of development. This is manifested in the poor infrastrural development, the lack of basic amenities and widespread poverty.

Our people work extremely hard as farmers, fishermen and traders. Across the volta lake and fertile lands of the district our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters work tirelessly each day  to earn an income. The fertile lands have serviced as a magnet attracting people from various oarts of the country who come to find land to undertake farming.

Similarly the Volta Lake attracts a lot of of people from Central and Volta region who establish home in the district and carryout fishing activities.

Notwithstanding this, distrcit remains one of the least developed in the country and the community one of the poorest.

Poor roads

There isn't a single tarred road linking any of our communities. All roads to and from Kpandai are in a very bad state and so are the roads linking the disticts towns and villages. The road from Salaga to Kpandai is not motoroable during the raining season. Also the orad to Bimbila and Wulensi are also in a very terrible shape. Similarly the road to Dambai which links the district to the volta region is strewn with pot holes and gulleys.

Low commercial activities

Low incomes

The majority of our people are susbsitence farmers,  smll scale fishermen and petty traders on low incomes.

Lack of teachers

There is shortate of trained teachers in Northern region and Kpnadai is no exception. Several schools rely on untrained tutors and in soe comunities untraoned volunteers.

Communities in distant locations for example on volta lake have no schools at all and where communities have built have strictires themselves use volunteers to provide tution.

Lack of basic amenities

Visit Kpandai township (the distrcit capital) and you will find it difficult to find a public toilet. It is not just public toilte that are in short suply, most communities have no access to pipe borne water. Worse hit are communities such as Kabonwule and its environs, Komboi, Takoradi etc The lack of these two essentail amenities has created a conducive environment for preventable  diseases.

After 20 years under one MP, in December 2012 we voted to change our MP. Yes we have changed our MP. But have we seen any change in our lives?

Our roads are still bad, Our parents are still poor and struggling to pay our school fees

And and our brothers and sisters who have left school still have no jobs and no hope!

What can we do to improve things in Kpandai?
